Circular Ornamental Necklace: Inspired from a circular hair ornament made in Banglore, India in about 1880. The V&A musuem paid £9 for the gold ornament which was backed with silver and filled with a natural resin or lacquer to support the thin and very fragile gold. The decoration on the front of the original depicts the Hindu God Vishnu at the centre lying on the serpent Ananta, whose multiple heads fan out over him.
