This gold plated brooch is encrusted with bohemian crystals, a faux pearl centre and dangling faux pearl. It has a locking C-clasp to ensure secure fastening.
Inspired
This jewellery is inspired by a brooch that belonged to Queen Mary's grandmother, Princess Augusta, Duchess of Cambridge. When she died at the age of 91, the brooch was inherited by her younger daughter, Princess Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck. When she died in 1897 without leaving a will, her jewellery was divided among her four children, the brooch being part of Queen Mary's share. It was one of her favourite brooches and she wore it constantly for the rest of her life. With a passion for family history, she wore her grandmother's brooch at the christening of her great-great grandson, Prince Charles, in 1948. She had also worn the brooch at the christening of her granddaughter, the present Queen in 1926. It is now in the collection of Queen Elizabeth II, who wears it frequently.
