Gimmel earrings - these are adapted from a traditional ring design (from the Latin gemelus, meaning twin) consisting of two or three interlocking bands, much used from medieval times to denote love, friendship or loyalty and often used in marriage ceremonies. The earrings (and matching pendant) take the central motif of the lovers' gimmel ring (based on a German design dating from 1575) and adapt it into a circular band with a suspended central heart enclosed by hands. The earrings are made from gold plated silver (4.387 gms), with red enamel and a cubic zirconia stone.
