Inspired by a brooch with a central oval pink topaz with a scroll border of cushion-shaped diamonds suspending a detachable topaz and diamond drop mounted in silver and gold and made in about 1860. This was purchased by HRH The Princess of Wales, later Queen Mary, in 1901. This brooch passed to Princess Margaret and was sold at auction in 2006.

Each earring is 1.8cm(0.7in) wide by 3.8cm(1.5in) long and comes with hypoallergenic backs.
